Ingredients

  • 4 6oz each salmon fillets
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 lemons

Instructions

To prepare the marinade

  • Add butter, olive oil, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, brown sugar, dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes in a bowl
  • Mix well until the brown sugar dissolves completely. Your salmon marinade is ready

Marinating the salmon

  • Take your baking tray and line the base of the tray with sliced lemons
  • Lay the salmon fillets over the lemon slices
  • Pour the marinade over the salmon
  • Cover the dish and put it in the fridge for an hour to marinate
  • This lets the salmon absorb the flavor, making it juicy and flavorful
  • While the salmon marinates, take it out at intervals to move around the marinade sauce so the salmon is adequately covered with the marinade

Cooking the salmon

  • Now, take the salmon out of the fridge and let it warm up to room temperature before putting it in the oven
  • Set your oven at the broil setting and let your salmon broil for around 10 minutes
  • Take it out and baste the salmon with sauce on the tray
  • Put it back to broil for 5 more minutes
  • Take it out of the oven and serve it with a side of your choice and enjoy!

Cooking tips for this recipe

  • Make sure to always use fresh salmon
  • If you’re planning on searing or broiling salmon on a pan, keep the skin side down, it makes the salmon crispier
  • Never use salmon directly out of the fridge. Keep it on the counter for around 15 minutes to let the salmon come to room temperature
  • You can choose a bigger piece of fish than skillets if you are baking in the oven. However, when cooking on the stove top, it is easier to use fillets that are 6-8 ounces each
