Individuals on a keto diet tend to sweat a lot and I acknowledge that it can be discouraging and uncomfortable.

A few months ago, an old friend of mine, Gabby started her Keto diet journey. Not long after, she started complaining of constant sweating. So, we decided to do some research and consult health experts.

• The high protein, which comprises 60℅ fats, 35℅ protein, and 5 ℅ carbs.

• The standard, which comprises 74℅ fats, 20℅ proteins, and 5℅ carbs.

Sweating is a crucial bodily function, which helps in regulating your body temperature. Sweating or perspiration is the process where salt-based fluid is released from your sweat glands. Normally, changes in your body temperature or your emotional state may result in sweating.

However, it’s a different situation when you sweat while on a Keto diet. 

Before you begin your keto diet plan, you may have taken some foods that are carb-dense. For every gram of carbs you take, the body also stores around 4g of water. During the high fat, low-carb keto diet, your body gets into the state of ketosis, which means it starts draining stored fluids faster than usual; in the form of sweat as well as urine.

In other words, as soon as you start your keto diet, your body adjusts to the new condition by releasing repeated sweats. Your body aims to eliminate the excess water your body has accumulated due to the high-carb diets you’ve consumed in the past. This water needs to be completely removed before you can certify yourself as a bonafide keto diet observer.

1. Say No to Spicy Foods

In order to reduce the rate at which you sweat on a keto diet stay away from foods that aggravate it! Normally, when you’re new to a keto diet, you should always expect an intense pool of sweat to visit you. But then, you can also make it worse by taking in spicy foods.

Spicy foods are rich in pepper and are also known to be great triggers for the nerves, which keep your body in a warm state hence dropping a call for Mr. Sweat?. 

2. Drink More Water

One of the most effective ways to reduce sweating on a keto diet is by drinking sufficient water. How? Drinking over 16 ounces of water per day helps calm your body and minimizes your keto breath. It ensures that you do not sweat continuously. Instead, excess water is passed through your urine. Hence, a high intake of water helps you to ward off sweating on a keto diet.

Other Ketogenic Signs You May Experience

Usually, the only sign to associate with a keto diet is a gradual weight loss, but it’s a lot more than that! When your body is new to a keto diet, it reacts in ways that give rise to signs I’m about to let you know. But no worries, these signs are usually short-lived and you can expect them to go away a week after starting your keto diet.
